Gear is judged by the loss it prevents.
A tool is only worth its price if it prevents a loss you would otherwise take — not because a video called it essential.

How a gear entry is written
Gear entries record the shop price, the shop it appears in and what the item is documented to do. The behaviour is the fragile part: a tool that protects a plot in one update can do something else after the next one, so the entry carries the date its behaviour was last confirmed and says plainly when that confirmation is older than the current build.
Protection claims get a higher bar than price claims. A price is printed in the shop and anyone can check it; a protection claim usually comes from a video, a comment or a community page, and those are the sources that quietly recycle last month's mechanics. Where the only support is a community claim, the entry labels it as a claim and does not upgrade it into a fact because several pages repeat it.
Buying decisions combine three readings: whether the item is in the shop right now, what it costs, and what it actually protects. This hub links the stock board for the first, the entry for the second, and the defense guide for the third, so a purchase is not made on a single undated claim.
